Rawal Med J Jan ;44(1):162-4.

Objective: To determine changes in gait pattern during multi-tasking in healthy young individuals using GAITRite system. Methodology: In this comparative cross-sectional study, three tasks were performed by 30 subjects on GAITRite system. The first was a single task of strolling in order to approach a fixed mark, second was dual task typing a message while strolling in order to approach a fixed mark and third was a triple task of typing a message and answering a question asked by investigator while walking toward a fixed target. Results: The gait parameters as velocity, cadence, stride length and step length decreased in triple task. Velocity and cadence recorded in single task, dual task and triple task was 108.28+-15.16 cm/s, 88.33+-19.61 cm/s, 92.02+-19.50 cm/s and 102.85+-9.95, 92.23+-13.98, 93.29+-13.70, respectively. The mean stride length and step length recorded in single task, dual task and triple task was 126.88+-10.15 cm, 114.14+-14.30 cm, 116.14+-20.49 cm and 63.15+-4.78 cm, 57.12+-7.30 cm, 58.89+-7.71 cm, respectively. The mean double support recorded in single task, dual task and triple task was 22.59+-4.82, 26.15+-4.40, 25.19+-5.06, respectively. Significant difference was found between single, double and triple task (p
