Management of Hepatic Injuries.

2 years study from March 1995 to February 1997 regarding the management of liver injuries was carried out; it the West Surgical Ward of Mayo Hospital Lahore. This study comprised of 41 patients. Mode of injury was penetrating trauma in 71% of the cases and blunt trauma in 21% cases. 85% patients were male. 40% of the total Patients were in the age group between 31-40 years. 65% of the patients had injury to the right lobe of liver. 61% patients had Grade I and Grade II injuries, 26% had Grade III injuries and 13% had Grade IV and Grade V injuries. 56% of the total patients underwent suture ligation and 26% underwent hepatotomy and resectional debridement. Two patients were subjected to temporary internal packing. Mortality in this study was 8%.
