Hypertension in 35 hospitalised children.

The study was carried from 1993 and 1994 for 6 months. The criteria used was a blood pressure reading of over 95th percentile for that age and sex on three separate occasions. Results: There were a total of 1200 admission in six months of which 35 were hypertensive (2.91%). Causes of hypertension in these cases were mostly renal (79.2%), cardiovascular (2.8%), hormonal (5.7%), neural (8.5%). 2.85% had essential hypertension.
