Bisma, 1.5 years old girl presented with a history of gradually becoming unsteady, unable to stand, sit or crawl over the past six months. She would be in bed for prolonged periods looking at inamimate objects and had started putting her isted hand in mouth, opening her mouth, putinh her tongue out and wringing her hands. She at times became indifferent, lost contact and did not seem to notice or recognize persons infront of her. She had been narrowing her social responces and was more comfortable with her grandmother. Before the onset of these abnormalities she was a perfectly normal child physically, mentally and emotionally. Antenatal, natal and family history did not reveal anything significant. The other sibling is normal. Clinical examination confirmed the authenticity of the above complains. She was apraxic and showed autistic behaviour, wringing her hands, putting these in her mouth, protruding her tongue, disrupting contact unexpectedly when her attention was held and at such times became aloof, distant and lost in herself. The head circumference was below 50% percentile presently and no pervious record was available for comparison.
