Objective: The educational environment of any institute is the created by the interplay of a number of factors. Stability of these factors contributes to stability of the learning environment, and any change in one these factors causes disturbance in equilibrium of the environment. Significant among these factors is the curriculum. This study was conducted in a medical college which recently changed its university affiliation resulting in a curricular shift from a traditional to a horizontally integrated curriculum. The objective of the study was to find out how students perceived the current educational environment of the college and compare it with the previous educational environment scores of the same institute using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM).Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted. Data collected during a study of the educational environment at Wah Medical College in 2015 was compared with data collected for the educational environment in 2019. The DREEM inventory was utilized for data collection. Results: In 2015, the overall DREEM score was 122.63/200 (61.3%), indicating that the perception of the learning environment was positive. In 2019, the overall DREEM score slightly declined 120.40/200 (60.2%), and although the learning environment at the college was still encouraging, four out of five DREEM domains showed a difference. However, the overall score showed no statistically significant difference. Conclusion: Curricular shift had not made a significant impact on the overall educational environment and the institute was able to maintain a healthy learning environment
