Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of the brain: fact or a fancy?.
J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;13(1):652-5.

Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) has been increasingly accepted as a routine diagnostic procedure worldwide. It has the distinct advantage of being simple, inexpensive, painless, quick, easy and free from significant morbidity and mortality. The brain while deserving the most, has received little attention. A pilot study was performed on two autopsy cases. The aspirates from a normal brain and from a brain of Tay-Sach`s disease patient revealed adequate material with superbly crisp cellular and architectural details. This study highlights the potentials and benefits of the FNAC in both surgical and medical diseases of the brain.
