Duplication of hepatic Artery.
Professional Med J Jan ;8(4):453-9.

OBJECTIVE: To report on hepatic artery variations observed in the dissecting room. DESIGN: Morphological study of twenty human cadavers by dissection. SETTING: Anatomy Laboratory, College of Medicine & KKUH, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. MATERIALS: Twenty, white human cadavers (five female & fifteen male) of Caucasian origin were dissected to study the source and pattern of hepatic arterial blood supply. RESULTS: Nineteen cadavers exhibited typical hepatic arterial supply from celiac axis. One female body out of twenty cadavers exhibited a dual arterial supply to all parts of liver and gallbladder. One artery originated from the celiac axis while the other was given off by the superior mesenteric artery. CONCLUSION: Aberrant hepatic vascularization should be ruled out routinely as a preoperative measure to avoid fatal complications.
