Pak Armed Forces Med J Jan ;46(2):35-9.

Screening mammography was carried out in 250 asymptomatic women over the age of 40 yrs at Radiology Department, CMH, Rawalpindi. Most of the patients were in their early forties. The number of patients slowly declined with increasing age. The incidence of carcinoma breast however, increased with increasing age. Sixty five patients showed positive findings in their mammograms. Bulk of the positive cases included fibroadenomas, benign cysts and carcinomas. 1616.4%) cases of carcinoma were diagnosed in women who were totally unaware of their problem. This fact by itself explains the importance of screening mammography.
